The Opening Ceremony is one of the highlights of the Pacific School Games. It is a chance for all athletes from every Australian State and Territory and all Nations to come together for an athlete parade. The ceremony will also be a celebration of the sporting and educational opportunities they will participate in throughout the Games.
The 2017 Opening Ceremony will once again be held at the Adelaide Showgrounds on the afternoon of Sunday 3rd December. All parents, friends, supporters and members of the general public will be able to purchase tickets to attend the ceremony at the gate. Those who purchased a PSG Supporter Pass will get in by showing their pass.
Athletes will be the focal point of the Opening Ceremony, with each team parading on to the arena to their chosen song. Adelaide and all its offerings will be showcased through local performing artists, sports people, local school children and community groups. Furthermore, the 2017 Games will be the 10th Pacific School Games, with the first ever Games being held in Brisbane, 1982. Therefore, the Opening Ceremony will also celebrate how the Pacific School Games has been a starting point for current and former elite athletes.
This event will be a true celebration of the time, effort and dedication that athletes, parents, supporters and officials have committed to prepare for what is going to be a hugely exciting week of sport.
